2. Processing when you visit this website
2.1 Website delivery and server logs
When you visit this website, the web server or hosting provider processes technically necessary data. This may include your IP address, date and time of access, requested file, amount of data transferred, browser type, operating system and referring page, where transmitted by your browser.
The data is processed to deliver the website, maintain stability and security and prevent misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the secure and reliable operation of the website.
2.2 Contact by email
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide to respond to your request and any follow-up questions.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request relates to a contract, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is responding appropriately to enquiries.
3. Processing in the app
3.1 Local-first storage
BeeReady is designed as a data-minimising iOS app. Data about apiaries, colonies, inspections, treatments, feeding, honey harvests, bookkeeping, reminders and photos is generally stored locally on your Apple device. If iCloud is enabled for BeeReady, this data is also synchronised through your personal iCloud container iCloud.de.beeready.app.
We do not operate our own server for storing your apiary records and do not have direct access to their contents. BeeReady does, however, use external online services and a technical weather proxy for weather, location and forecast features.
4. Data processed by the app
4.1 Data you enter
- Beekeeper name and app preferences
- Postal code or GPS-based location mode for weather features
- Apiary and colony master data
- Inspections, treatments, feeding, harvests, bookkeeping entries and reminders
- Optional colony and inspection photos
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where processing is necessary to provide the requested app functions.
4.2 Weather using a postal code
If you use postal-code mode, BeeReady sends the country you select and the postal code you enter to the Nominatim geocoding service to obtain coordinates and a readable place name. Those coordinates are then sent to the BeeReady weather service at beeready-weather.simon-raach.workers.dev. The BeeReady weather service is provided through Cloudflare Workers, a service operated by Cloudflare, Inc., and retrieves the required weather data from OpenWeather.
When the BeeReady weather service is requested, Cloudflare processes the location parameters required for the request and technically necessary connection data, in particular the IP address. Cloudflare's privacy information applies to its further processing.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
4.3 Weather using GPS
If you enable GPS mode, iOS asks for your permission to access location data. Once granted, BeeReady uses your current coordinates to request weather data through the BeeReady weather service provided on Cloudflare Workers and uses Nominatim reverse geocoding to display a readable place name. Your current GPS position is processed for the request and is not permanently stored as a GPS location unless you explicitly assign a location to an apiary.
The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and Article 6(1)(b) GDPR for the location and weather feature you request. You can withdraw location permission at any time in iOS Settings.
4.4 Elevation and saved locations
For certain location and elevation features, coordinates may also be sent to OpenTopoData. Coordinates that you manually add to an apiary or save in the app become part of your apiary records and are stored locally and, if enabled, in your iCloud account.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
4.5 iCloud synchronisation
If iCloud is enabled for BeeReady, Apple synchronises app data between your devices. Apple provides the iCloud infrastructure. This does not give us access to your apiary records.
The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
4.6 In-app purchases
BeeReady Pro purchases are processed by Apple. We only receive entitlement information required to determine whether your Apple ID currently has access to Pro features. Apple does not provide us with your payment details, name or purchase email address.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.
5. Recipients
Depending on which features you use, data may be transferred to the following recipients:
- Website hosting provider for technical website delivery
- Apple for the App Store, in-app purchases and optional iCloud synchronisation
- OpenStreetMap Foundation / Nominatim for geocoding and reverse geocoding
- Cloudflare, Inc. as the provider of Cloudflare Workers used to operate the BeeReady weather service at
beeready-weather.simon-raach.workers.dev - OpenWeather Ltd for weather data and forecasts
- OpenTopoData for optional elevation requests
External providers may process personal data outside the European Union or European Economic Area. The provider's privacy information and the applicable transfer safeguards apply.
6. No advertising or marketing tracking
BeeReady does not use advertising SDKs, marketing trackers or advertising analytics in the app or on this website. We do not create marketing profiles.
7. Retention and deletion
Website logs are retained only as long as necessary for secure operation and troubleshooting. Email enquiries are retained only as long as needed to respond or comply with legal retention duties.
Locally stored app data remains on your device until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Data synchronised through iCloud is additionally subject to Apple's storage and deletion controls and may be restored when you reinstall BeeReady while using the same iCloud account.
8. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability, objection and withdrawal of consent under the GDPR.
Because we do not operate a server containing your apiary records, many practical data controls are available directly on your device or through your Apple account. You can contact support@beereadyapp.de with privacy questions.
9. Right to complain
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when BeeReady adds functions or uses different technical services. The version published on this website is the current version.
